Growing up whenever someone talks about “Venezuela”, the first thing that comes to everyone’s mind is perhaps baseball (considered the number sport in the country), beauty pageant (consistency of finishing in the Top 3 in almost every Miss Universe/World) or maybe telenovela (we had a lot of this in Malaysia in the late 90s and early 200s).

However, in recent times, the game of football is also the rise and the timing seems right to have a book in English that talks about the story of Venezuelan football.

For this episode, we got Jordan Florit all the way from Southampton, the author of Red Wine & Arepas: How Football is Becoming Venezuela’s Religion to give us an insight into his book.

We explored various subjects such as the history of the game, the fan culture and also the future of football in Venezuela. This is an episode that we highly recommend to every football aficionados out there to give ita listen, you will surely learn a thing or two.
